JOB DESCRIPTION – CHEF

Position: Chef
Department: Kitchen / Food & Beverage
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Head Chef / Restaurant Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for a creative, disciplined, and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality food, maintaining kitchen standards, managing food quality and hygiene, and ensuring smooth daily kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to the restaurant’s recipes, menu, and quality standards.
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, portion, and food quality.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards in the kitchen.
• Monitor food stock, ingredients, and kitchen supplies.
• Minimize food wastage and control food costs.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of all ingredients.
• Assist in menu development and new dish creation when required.
• Coordinate with kitchen team members to ensure orders are prepared efficiently.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and report any damage or maintenance issues.
• Follow all company policies, SOPs, and health & safety requirements.
• Support other kitchen duties as assigned by the Head Chef or management.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, or similar kitchen position.
• Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
• Able to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods.
• Good teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
• Reliable, responsible, punctual, and disciplined.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
• Culinary qualification is an advantage but not mandatory if relevant experience is strong.
