Serumah is a new Malaysian dining concept built around familiar everyday food, thoughtful hospitality and disciplined kitchen operations. We're building our first team and looking for someone who enjoys cooking, takes pride in doing things properly, and wants the opportunity to grow together with a new restaurant

Who We're Looking For

• Ideally 2–4+ years of kitchen experience, although capability matters more to us than title.

• You should be comfortable cooking independently, working during busy service, following standardized recipes and helping junior team members.

• Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is reliable, humble, disciplined, hands-on and willing to learn.

Your Role

You will work directly with our Kitchen Lead and support the daily operation of the kitchen.

This isn't purely an assistant position. We are looking for someone who can gradually become a dependable second person in the kitchen and take greater responsibility as the team grows.

Responsibilities

• Support the Kitchen Lead in daily kitchen operations.

• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and SOPs.

• Coordinate mise en place and station readiness before service.

• Maintain consistency in taste, portioning and presentation.

• Monitor ingredient usage, storage, FIFO and wastage.

• Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.

• Guide and support junior Commis Chefs.

• Assist with receiving, stock count and kitchen closing.

• Step up to coordinate kitchen operations when the Kitchen Lead is unavailable.

• Participate in training and continuous improvement of kitchen systems.
