Job OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Performance Tester with deep banking domain expertise to ensure the scalability, reliability, and stability of mission-critical banking applications. The ideal candidate will design and execute performance testing strategies across internet banking, mobile banking, and payment systems, identify bottlenecks, and provide actionable tuning recommendations to development and infrastructure teams.
Key Responsibilities1. Performance Test Strategy & Planning
- Gather performance test requirements across different application technologies and banking business flows .
- Develop comprehensive performance test plans incorporating objectives, testing environment, user profiles, risks, test scenarios, tool selection, schedules, and result analysis approaches .
- Define non-functional requirements (NFRs) and map them to test strategies and SLAs with cross-functional teams .
2. Test Scripting & Execution
- Develop and modify performance test scripts using industry-standard tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, and Micro Focus Performance Center .
- Execute load, stress, endurance, spike, and volume tests to evaluate system behavior under various conditions .
- Perform mobile on-device performance testing and engineering for banking applications .
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins) for Agile delivery environments .
3. Monitoring & Analysis
- Monitor application performance using APM tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Grafana, or CloudWatch .
- Analyze server response times, throughput, hits/sec, transaction response under load, and system-level metrics (Java processes, Oracle DB connections, JVM heap/thread dumps, garbage collection) .
- Identify database-related bottlenecks and recommend indexing/optimization strategies .
- Use Unix/Linux shell scripts and OS commands (perfmon, Nmon, vmstat) to analyze backend server resource utilization .
4. Reporting & Collaboration
- Prepare and present performance test reports with findings and tuning recommendations to stakeholders and business managers .
- Collaborate with developers, architects, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to resolve performance issues and drive improvements .
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members on performance testing best practices .
RequirementsEducation & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field .
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience in performance testing, with a strong focus on banking domain applications (consumer banking, internet banking, mobile banking, payment systems) .
Technical Skills:
- Performance Testing Tools: Mandatory hands-on proficiency in Apache JMeter and LoadRunner / Micro Focus Performance Center; experience with Gatling, NeoLoad, or k6 is advantageous .
- Monitoring & Profiling: Experience with APM tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Grafana, Splunk, Nimsoft) and OS-level monitoring commands (perfmon, Nmon, vmstat) .
- Banking Systems Knowledge: Understanding of banking transaction flows, high-volume processing, concurrent user sessions, and security practices .
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Shell) for test automation is preferred .
- CI/CD & DevOps: Experience integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub) and working within Agile/Scrum frameworks .
Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to pinpoint system bottlenecks and recommend solutions .
- Strong communication skills to present technical findings to both technical and business audiences .
- Ability to work independently and manage complex test scenarios in a fast-paced delivery environment .
Preferred Qualifications- Certification in performance testing (e.g., Certified Performance Tester) or ISTQB .
- Experience with cloud-based performance engineering (AWS, Azure, GCP) .
- Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes) .
- Knowledge of API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI) .
Performance Indicators- Successful delivery of performance test cycles within project timelines.
- Identification and resolution of critical performance bottlenecks prior to production.
- Quality and actionability of performance test reports and tuning recommendations.
- Stakeholder satisfaction from development, infrastructure, and business teams.
