Job Requirements

• Valid Chargeman (BO or B1) Certificate issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (active and in good standing).

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or related field of studies.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial or power plant electrical maintenance (HV/LV systems).

• Competent in handling generators, switchgear, transformers, MSB, protection systems and troubleshooting works.

• Knowledge of Electricity Supply Act 1990 and Electricity Regulations 1994.

• Responsible, safety-conscious, and willing to work shifts, weekends, and attend emergency breakdowns.

The Chargeman shall be responsible for the safe operation, inspection, maintenance, and control of high and low voltage electrical systems, including power generation and distribution systems, in accordance with the Electricity Supply Act 1990 and Electricity Regulations 1994 (with latest amendments).

This role is critical in ensuring continuous and safe plant operations, minimizing downtime, and maintaining full compliance with regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.

• Responsible to carry out inspection and repairs of the entire facility’s electrical installation and monitoring on high and low voltage facilities equipment performance.

• Responsible to assist operation of the generator sets, synchronizing of generator sets, energizing electrical switch gear, panel boards and all electrical installation as required by operations.

• Ensure equipment operations related to electrical and instruments are always maintained at optimum performance with minimum downtime. Responsible to assist operations team to troubleshoot electrical / instrument related and any emergency situations during operation.

• Ensure all works are carried out accordance with specifications and approved procedures provided in Act 447 Electricity Supply Act 1990 and Regulations 1994 with updated enactments (including contractors and internal team)

• Responsible to monitor, inspect and rectify all faults found all equipment. (including transformers, main switch boards, inverters, electrical motors (AC & DC), and all electrical / instrument wirings, high and low voltage power distribution system of all installation). Routine shift inspection works including generator system (including excitation system, protection system). 

• Responsible to execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of entire facility’s electrical installation, power supply, firefighting, lift/crane system and air compressor system including substations at each section.

• Responsible for recording all operational records and maintenance / service records.

• Responsible to execute energy conservation activities.

• Ensure any new installation and/or maintenance works are safe, correct in accordance to all local authorities and responsible to test and witness commission once works completed. (including works carried out by inhouse team and external contractors)

• Responsible for full compliance to all safety procedures, general safety & health procedure, environmental procedures, hygiene procedures and 5S execution. Good housekeeping at workshop area and at all related work area.

• Actively contribute to ESH initiatives by supporting training, audits, and continuous improvement programs to enhance organizational safety and environmental stewardship.

• Willingness to assist any other tasks as assigned by management accordingly. In order to support and ensure power plant production is running in good conditions may be required during holidays, weekends and work long hours.
