Responsibilities

Financial Operations

• Process supplier invoices and receipts, ensuring vendors are coded correctly and records match purchase orders.
• Support payment runs by preparing payment files and checking approvals for accuracy and completeness.
• Help perform petty cash handling and basic cash reconciliations to keep day-to-day transactions balanced.
• Assist with basic sales accounting entries from POS and e-commerce batches to ensure revenue is posted correctly.

Data & Reporting

• Maintain ledgers and spreadsheets, entering daily transaction data and keeping supporting documents organised.
• Prepare simple reconciliation reports for bank accounts and supplier statements on a weekly or monthly cadence.
• Help compile numbers for month-end checklists and flag any discrepancies to senior finance staff for review.
• Create clear working papers that explain adjustments and support audit trails for routine checks.

Support & Collaboration

• Work closely with store and operations teams to request missing documents and clarify transaction details.
• Assist the finance team on small projects to streamline routine tasks and improve process clarity.
• Respond to routine vendor or internal queries about invoices and payment status in a timely manner.
• Follow company filing and data security practices while handling financial records and sensitive information.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Current enrolment in or recent graduate of an accounting, finance, or related diploma or degree program.
• 0 to 1 year of prior internship or part-time exposure to accounting tasks is welcome but not required.
• Basic understanding of bookkeeping fundamentals, journal entries, and common accounting terminology.
• Interest in retail finance and willingness to learn retail-specific processes and reporting.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets for data entry, sorting, and simple formulas.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or similar systems is an advantage.
• Ability to perform basic bank and supplier reconciliations and to follow a month-end checklist.
• Good numeric accuracy, attention to document detail, and organised record-keeping habits.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• Communicate clearly and politely with internal teams and external vendors, both written and verbal.
• Show initiative to ask questions and learn, while accepting feedback from supervisors.
• Manage time well to meet daily tasks and simple deadlines without constant supervision.
• Work cooperatively in a small team and keep a positive, dependable attitude during busy periods.

This is a Builder role: you will help set up and improve routine accounting processes so our finance work is faster, cleaner, and easier to scale as our retail operations grow.
