This role is based in Penang, Malaysia, and is open to candidates with a minimum of a high school qualification, although a technical or college degree is considered an advantage. The position requires at least five years of CNC programming experience, including a minimum of three years using CAD/CAM software. Experience in multi-axis (5+) CNC machining, including mill/turn, grinding, and robotics, is preferred, along with prior exposure to manufacturing environments and regulated industries such as medical, automotive, or aerospace.
The candidate must demonstrate strong technical capabilities, including the ability to program independently using CAD/CAM software and develop reliable machining processes for low-volume, high-mix production. A solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential, along with the ability to respond to both routine production schedules and urgent requirements to maintain operational flow. The role also requires strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and to convey technical information clearly to both operators and management.
In addition, the candidate is expected to function as a subject matter expert and mentor to other programmers and machinists, supporting knowledge sharing and technical development within the team. The role involves moderate physical activity, including standing and walking for extended periods, and occasional bending and reaching. It also requires flexibility to travel between 25% to 50% of the time while maintaining a high level of performance in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
The role is based in Batu Kawan, Penang and is suitable for candidates currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. While prior internship or part-time experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. Candidates with basic programming knowledge, web development exposure, and familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Power Platform tools will have an added advantage.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong analytical thinking, along with excellent communication and collaboration skills. They should be adaptable, quick to learn, and comfortable working in a team environment. This role does not require significant physical demands and involves minimal travel (less than 10%), making it well-suited for students seeking practical industry exposure.
