Job Description

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Application Developer builds and maintains the software that keeps MES running day to day — features, bug fixes, reports, and automation scripts. You'll work under MES Engineering direction on well-scoped tasks, with plenty of room to grow into system design and equipment integration work as you build experience. This is a strong fit if you want serious hands-on software development experience in a manufacturing environment, without yet owning system architecture or on-call escalation.

Responsibilities

Application Development

  • Implement new features and enhancements to existing MES modules — lot tracking, production transactions, reporting screens, user-facing tools
  • Fix bugs and handle first-line troubleshooting for MES application issues, escalating architecture-level or multi-system problems to MES Engineering

Database & Reporting

  • Write and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and reports against Oracle and/or MS-SQL
  • Build data-processing functions and support ad hoc data requests from Manufacturing and Quality teams
  • Learn and apply PL/SQL patterns used across the existing codebase

Integration & Automation

  • Implement EDI interfaces and data integration functions following existing integration patterns set by MES Engineering
  • Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline manufacturing, reporting, or operational tasks
  • Get exposure to SECS/GEM and equipment interface work by shadowing and assisting on integration projects

Quality & Process

  • Perform code reviews, manage version control, and keep the codebase maintainable
  • Write test plans and execute unit, integration, and user acceptance testing
  • Support production validation after releases and deployments
  • Maintain user-facing documentation, support guides, and troubleshooting notes for common issues

Collaboration

  • Participate in sprint planning, standups, and release planning with the Application Team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 2–3 years of software development experience; MES or manufacturing exposure is a plus but not required
  • Proficiency in C, C#/.NET, ASP.NET; working knowledge of C++ and Python
  • Working SQL skills (Oracle and/or MS-SQL): writing queries, basic stored procedures, debugging data issues
  • Comfortable reading and extending existing code written by others
  • Willingness to learn manufacturing processes (lot/wafer/panel tracking, production transactions) on the job
  • Good written communication — you'll be documenting what you build for both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred

  • Exposure to system interfaces, APIs, or EDI
  • Any exposure to SECS/GEM or equipment integration, even coursework or personal projects
  • Interest in growing toward MES architecture and system design over time
  • Semiconductor or manufacturing environment familiarity
