Job Summary:
A Mechanical Testing and Commissioning (T&C) Engineer bridges the gap between building construction and daily operations. They ensure all mechanical systems—such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection—are safely installed, calibrated, and performing at peak operational efficiency before the facility is handed over to the client.
Key Responsibilities:
Review approved drawings, specifications and commissioning procedures.
Prepare testing and commissioning (T&C) method statements, checklists and schedules.
Inspect AHU, FCU and MV fan installations before commissioning.
Verify mechanical and electrical installation, including piping, ductwork, wiring, dampers, valves and controls.
Perform pre-commissioning checks, including motor rotation, insulation resistance, VSD settings and safety devices.
Carry out functional testing of AHUs, FCUs and MV fans to verify design performance.
Coordinate with TAB contractor to achieve specified airflows and system balancing.
Test and verify BMS controls, alarms, interlocks and control sequences.
Coordinate integrated testing with electrical, fire alarm and other building services.
Record commissioning results and prepare T&C reports, checklists and as-built documentation.
Identify defects, coordinate rectification works and conduct re-testing until compliance is achieved.
Attend inspections, witness testing with consultants and clients, and support system handover.
Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project specifications, local codes, safety requirements and quality standards.
Job Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
At least 2 to 5 years of T&C experience, with at least one major hospital or pharmaceutical/Data Center project completed from construction to handover, will be an added advantage.
Excellent negotiation, team leadership, and communication skills to resolve disputes between construction teams and design consultants
