Role Description

Synapsys is looking for a curious and motivated Junior AI Engineer to support the development of practical AI solutions for our products, internal initiatives and client projects.

This is a contract role based in Greater Kuala Lumpur with a hybrid working arrangement. It is suitable for a fresh graduate or an early-career candidate who wants to gain hands-on experience in artificial intelligence, generative AI and software development.

The Junior AI Engineer will work with the Synapsys team to explore business requirements, prepare data, build prototypes, test AI models and integrate AI capabilities into applications. The role may involve developing chatbots, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions, workflow automations and other AI-enabled applications.

The successful candidate will receive guidance while being expected to learn quickly, take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute practical ideas.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and testing AI applications, models and prototypes.
• Prepare, clean and organise data for AI and machine learning use cases.
• Work with large language models, APIs and prompt-engineering techniques.
• Support the development of chatbots, RAG applications, AI agents and workflow automations.
• Integrate AI capabilities with software applications and business systems.
• Evaluate results, identify issues and improve solution performance.
• Document technical approaches, testing outcomes and development work.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams on internal and client projects.
• Keep up to date with relevant AI tools, technologies and responsible-AI practices.

Qualifications

• Fresh graduate or candidate with up to one year of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Basic proficiency in Python and familiarity with software-development principles.
• Understanding of machine learning, natural language processing or generative AI concepts.
• Familiarity with APIs, Git and databases.
• Academic, internship or personal projects involving AI, machine learning, chatbots, LLMs or automation.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Able to communicate clearly and work collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and accept technical guidance.
  

Advantageous but Not Essential

Exposure to any of the following would be beneficial:

• OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or other LLM APIs
• LangChain, LlamaIndex or similar development frameworks
• PyTorch, TensorFlow or scikit-learn
• Vector databases and RAG solutions
• AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud
• Docker, CI/CD or basic MLOps practices
• Front-end or back-end application development

Candidates are not expected to have experience with every technology listed.

Fresh graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate what they have built through a GitHub profile, portfolio, final-year project or personal AI project.
