Job description:
Aflex has supplied marine equipment, pumps and ship spares since 2003, from our Singapore base and through offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Korea, the UAE and the Netherlands. We are an approved supplier to a number of the world's leading ship management companies, and we manufacture as well as distribute.
The role
This is a growth role, not a cover role. We have around sixty active customers in Singapore, and most of our attention naturally goes to the largest handful. Below them sits a group of good customers who buy one or two things from us and could buy considerably more.
Your job is to take a named portfolio of roughly 25 of those accounts and grow them — by finding out what else each customer buys that we could supply, and which of their vessels we are not yet on.
Key responsibilities:
- To develop business territories, expand contacts from the given & achieve assigned sales target.
- To prepare and deliver presentations explaining technical products and services to existing and prospective customers.
- To improve quality of the inquiries and order conversion rate.
- To provide customers with product sales support.
Job Description:
- Own a defined portfolio of existing customer accounts and their revenue
- Build a picture of each account: what they buy from us, what they buy elsewhere, which vessels in their fleet we serve
- Identify and win product categories the customer isn't yet buying from us
- Work with our internal systems and vessel-level purchase history — you'll be given the data, not asked to invent it
- Keep quotes moving and close them, with support from our sales support team
- Visit customers where it earns its keep; this is primarily a desk-based, systematic role
- Report on penetration — accounts activated, categories per account, vessels served — not just order value
Job Requirement:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Marine or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience with marine or industrial equipment
- 2–5 years in technical sales, ship supply, spares or equipment distribution
- Comfortable reading a technical enquiry and matching it to the right product
- Organised and methodical — this role rewards systematic follow-through over charisma
- Confident with ERP and CRM systems; comfortable working from data
- Good written English for correspondence with international ship manager
Helpful, not essential
- Familiarity with how ship managers and vessel superintendents procure
- Experience with pumps, valves, marine auxiliary equipment or ship spares
- Exposure to marine e-procurement platforms
