Job Description

Responsibilities

Company Description Commune is a homegrown furniture design and lifestyle company with an international presence, dedicated to crafting meaningful home experiences rather than just products. The brand focuses on quiet modernity, blending functionality, aesthetic form, and intelligent craftsmanship through a human-centric design approach. Sustainability is central to Commune’s ethos, with eco-conscious wood and timber sourced from sustainable forests across the USA, Asia, and Europe to minimize environmental impact. The company offers statement and timeless furniture pieces that marry style, practicality, and environmental responsibility for discerning homeowners. Commune’s portfolio also includes sub-brand Alt.o By Commune, expanding its design offerings and creative vision.
Role Description The Interior Designer role at Commune is a full-time, on-site position based in Singapore. The Interior Designer will develop interior concepts for residential and commercial spaces that reflect Commune’s design philosophy of quiet modernity and sustainability. Day-to-day tasks include space planning, preparing design proposals, selecting finishes and furniture, and coordinating FF&E to ensure cohesive and functional interiors. The role involves producing and reviewing construction drawings, collaborating with architects, contractors, and suppliers, and overseeing design implementation to meet quality and timeline requirements. The Interior Designer will also work closely with internal teams to ensure brand consistency, support visual merchandising initiatives, and contribute to the continuous improvement of Commune’s product and interior design standards.
Qualifications

  • Ability to plan and organize spaces effectively, with strong skills in Space Planning and Interior Design.
  • Understanding of Architecture principles and coordination with built environment professionals.
  • Proficiency in preparing and interpreting Construction Drawings for project execution.
  • Experience in FF&E selection, including furniture, fixtures, and equipment that align with design intent and budget.
  • Relevant diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in design and visualization software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar tools).
  • Strong aesthetic sense, attention to detail, and understanding of materials, finishes, and sustainable design practices.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work on-site as needed for inspections and coordination.
