Data Centre Network Engineer – Network & Fibre/Copper Patching

Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Data Centre Network Engineer to support network operations and physical network infrastructure within a data centre environment in Johor Bahru.

Important: This is not a purely NOC, monitoring or network configuration role. Candidates must have hands-on experience performing physical network patching within a data centre/server-room environment.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working on both network troubleshooting / configuration and physical fibre/copper connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on fibre and copper network patching within the data centre.
• Patch connectivity between network switches, routers, servers, patch panels and/or ODFs.
• Handle SFP/SFP+ transceivers, fibre connections and physical link troubleshooting.
• Perform cable tracing, labelling, port identification and connectivity verification.
• Troubleshoot physical connectivity issues including cabling, transceivers and network ports.
• Support installation/replacement of network equipment and basic rack-and-stack activities.
• Configure and troubleshoot switches and routers.
• Support VLAN, trunking, STP, LAG/LACP/EtherChannel, IP addressing, subnetting and L2/L3 connectivity.
• Assist with network migration, changes, testing and commissioning.
• Maintain accurate patching, port-mapping and network documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant network/data centre experience.
• Hands-on fibre/copper patching experience is required.
• Must be comfortable physically working with network equipment, cabling and patch panels within a data centre.
• Familiar with SFP/SFP+, fibre Tx/Rx, LC/SC connectors, cable tracing and labelling.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise switches/routers such as Cisco, Huawei, Juniper, H3C, Aruba or equivalent.
• Good networking fundamentals including VLAN, trunking, STP, LAG/LACP, TCP/IP and subnetting.
• Experience with fibre testing/troubleshooting tools such as OTDR, VFL or optical power meter would be advantageous.
• CCNA, JNCIA, HCIA or relevant networking/fibre certification is advantageous.
• Willing to work on-site in Johor Bahru
