Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Head Chef leads kitchen operations by creating innovative menus, controlling budgets, and ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety in a dynamic restaurant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement innovative, on-trend menus that enhance guest satisfaction
  • Lead and supervise kitchen staff to consistently prepare and cook food to the highest quality standards
  • Train and develop kitchen team members to maximize their culinary skills and operational performance
  • Manage kitchen budget by monitoring expenses and controlling costs within set financial limits
  • Order ingredients timely to ensure efficient food preparation and uninterrupted kitchen operations
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene by enforcing strict sanitation protocols and safety guidelines
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and operational
  • Collaborate with restaurant management to optimize overall restaurant performance and guest experience
  • Participate actively in menu planning meetings to align culinary offerings with business goals
  • Schedule kitchen staff shifts to ensure adequate coverage during all operating hours
  • Research and apply the latest culinary trends and techniques to keep the menu fresh and competitive
  • Enforce compliance with safety and sanitation standards to maintain a safe working environment

Required competencies and certifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a similar leadership culinary role
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • Proven ability to manage kitchen budgets and control costs effectively
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in training and developing kitchen teams
  • Excellent communication skills for effective team and management collaboration
  • Physical capability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in hot, noisy environments
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and variable hours as required

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Up-to-date knowledge of current culinary trends and techniques
