Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to support a Hadoop data platform modernisation project. The role will focus on Java backend development, application enhancements, platform migration, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse existing applications, services, and batch processes to identify required changes.
  • Develop and enhance Java backend applications, services, APIs, and integration components.
  • Support Hadoop platform and data-layer modernisation activities.
  • Implement application changes required for platform compatibility and migration.
  • Perform unit, integration, system, and regression testing.
  • Investigate and resolve application defects, performance issues, and deployment challenges.
  • Support application deployment, release validation, and production stabilisation.
  • Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning in distributed data environments.
  • Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Work with development, QA, infrastructure, and architecture teams to support project delivery.

Requirements

  • Experience with Linux and shell scripting.
  • Experience with software testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
  • Experience supporting platform migration or application modernisation projects is an advantage.
