About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on and results-driven Assistant Operations Manager to support the Operations Manager in overseeing hotel operations across the cluster. This role will focus on operational excellence, guest satisfaction, team performance, SOP implementation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Operations Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the cluster hotels.
- Conduct weekly hotel inspections and SOP audits to ensure operational standards, cleanliness, maintenance and guest areas are properly maintained.
- Review audit results with the Operations Manager and follow up on corrective actions where required.
- Ensure SOPs are properly implemented and understood across Front Office, Housekeeping, Breakfast, Facilities and Guest Experience.
- Monitor hotel performance including occupancy, ADR, guest satisfaction, maintenance, manpower, operating costs and other operational KPIs.
- Identify operational risks and trends early and take appropriate action before they escalate.
- Lead, coach and motivate the property team to improve performance, productivity and service quality.
- Ensure a consistent guest experience by engaging with guests, understanding their needs and responding to feedback and online reviews.
- Support staff hiring, onboarding, training, goal setting and performance management.
- Work closely with the hotel PIC to ensure proper manpower coverage during all shifts and peak periods.
- Work closely with Revenue and Commercial teams to support revenue and business initiatives.
- Support operational reporting and financial processes, including PMS and Xero.
- Maintain the hotel as a safe and secure environment and support the implementation of emergency procedures.
- Support the Operations Manager in developing future property leaders and operational talent.
- Step in as the hotel PIC when required, including during the absence or vacancy of the hotel leader.
- Be available to support urgent operational issues or emergencies when required, including outside normal working hours.
- Undertake other ad-hoc assignments based on operational needs.
Job Requirements
- 3–6 years of experience in hotel operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience in branded hotel chains and/or independent or boutique hotels is preferred.
- Experience in mid-scale or economy hotels and lean operating environments is an advantage.
- Strong leadership, coaching and team development skills.
- Good commercial mindset and comfortable working with operational KPIs and performance data.
- Comfortable using PMS, OTA platforms and Excel.
- Strong accountability, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Hands-on, adaptable and resourceful, with the ability to work independently in a lean operating environment.
- Good communication skills with a professional and mature attitude.
