Job Purpose
To supervise and coordinate the daily Safety & Security operations of the hotel, ensuring a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for guests, employees, visitors, and hotel assets. The position is responsible for maintaining security standards, supporting emergency response, identifying and mitigating potential risks, ensuring compliance with hotel policies, safety procedures, and applicable Malaysian regulations, and assisting the Safety & Security Manager in the effective management of the department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Safety & Security team, ensuring all duties are carried out in accordance with hotel policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of guests, employees, visitors, contractors, hotel assets, and property at all times.
- Conduct regular patrols and inspections of the hotel premises to identify potential security, safety, and operational risks, and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and service-oriented approach when interacting with guests, associates, contractors, suppliers, and visitors.
- Monitor and control access to the hotel by ensuring proper registration, identification, authorization, and documentation of visitors, vendors, contractors, and external personnel.
- Supervise security screening processes and ensure compliance with access control procedures.
- Investigate and document incidents involving theft, loss, accidents, injuries, disturbances, property damage, misconduct, or security breaches, and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, alarms, and guest or employee assistance requests, ensuring timely resolution and escalation when required.
- Immediately report major incidents, emergencies, suspicious activities, or serious security breaches to the Safety & Security Manager and relevant authorities.
- Prepare accurate and timely incident, investigation, occurrence, and daily security reports.
- Conduct routine inspections and operational checks on CCTV systems, fire alarm systems, PA systems, emergency response equipment, communication devices, access control systems, and other security-related installations.
- Ensure all security equipment, keys, radios, and operational tools are properly maintained, secured, and functioning effectively.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of faulty security and safety equipment with relevant departments and service providers.
- Perform monthly inspections of firefighting and life safety equipment and ensure defects are reported and rectified promptly.
- Assist in emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills, evacuation exercises, crisis management, and emergency response procedures.
- Coordinate with emergency services, law enforcement agencies, government authorities, and relevant departments during incidents and emergencies.
- Ensure all security posts, control rooms, access points, and patrol zones are adequately staffed and properly managed.
- Review shift activities and ensure complete and effective shift handovers, including communication of incidents, ongoing investigations, and outstanding matters.
- Monitor compliance with hotel safety policies, fire and life safety procedures, occupational health and safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of security information, investigations, reports, access records, CCTV footage, and other sensitive documents.
- Participate in training sessions, briefings, drills, and professional development programs to maintain knowledge of security and safety best practices.
- Coach and guide Security Officers to ensure consistent performance, professional conduct, and adherence to departmental standards.
- Support the Safety & Security Manager in implementing security initiatives, risk management programs, loss prevention measures, and departmental improvement plans.
- Ensure the highest standards of discipline, grooming, professionalism, and customer service are maintained by all security personnel.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Safety & Security Manager or Management.
Qualifications, experience and skills
- Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
- Certificate or Diploma in Security Management, Occupational Safety & Health, Law Enforcement, Hospitality, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in security, safety, hospitality, law enforcement, or a related field.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Experience in hotel security operations, emergency response, incident investigation, and fire safety procedures is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of safety, security, emergency response, fire prevention, and loss prevention procedures.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests, employees, contractors, and authorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and email communication.
- Familiarity with CCTV systems, access control systems, fire alarm systems, and other security-related equipment
- Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and during emergency situations when required.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and responsibility.
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
