Job Description

Responsibilities

About Acoerela:
Acoerela, a National University of Singapore (NUS) spinoff, is pioneering next-generation fluorogenic dyes for advanced nanovesicle analyses. Our proprietary, water-soluble Conjugated Oligoelectrolytes (COEs) commercialised as Aco-Dyes significantly enhance the detection and tracking of nanovesicles such as extracellular vesicles (EVs), helping biomedical researchers unlock new frontiers in diagnostics and therapeutics.

What You’ll Do:
As part of the R&D Team, you will be responsible for a diverse range of activities, including:

Product development & production: Support the preparation, optimisation, and production of Acoerela’s fluorescent dye products.

Quality control: Perform routine QC testing and characterisation of products to ensure consistency, quality, and performance.

Hands-on laboratory research: Design and perform experiments, troubleshoot protocols, analyse results, and contribute to ongoing R&D projects.

Explore new applications: Investigate and test potential new applications of Acoerela’s technology across areas such as extracellular vesicles, lipid nanoparticles, cell biology, and imaging.

Collaborative research: Support experiments conducted together with academic and industry collaborators, providing exposure to real-world research projects and applications.

Data analyses: Process and analyse experimental data, identify trends, and help translate results into meaningful scientific conclusions.

Scientific documentation: Compile experimental results, prepare reports, maintain clear experimental records, and contribute to technical documents, application notes, and other scientific materials.

Problem solving & innovation: Participate in discussions around experimental design, troubleshoot unexpected results, and contribute your own ideas to improve existing methods or explore new directions.

We are looking for someone who is:
A graduate with a major in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.

Comfortable working in a laboratory environment and willing to learn new techniques.

Analytical and detail-oriented, with an interest in understanding the why behind experimental results.

Able to work independently, while also being a collaborative team member.

Proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks and projects.

Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic start-up environment where priorities can evolve and new ideas are encouraged.

Prior laboratory or research experience is a plus, but curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn are equally important.

Why Join Acoerela?

As a small and growing biotech company, employees have the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibilities, collaborate cross functionally, and see how their contributions translate into real products, experiments, and scientific outcomes.

If you are excited by the idea of learning by doing, solving real scientific problems, and experiencing the pace and creativity of an early-stage biotech startup, we would love to hear from you.
We are a deep tech spin-off from the National University of Singapore that specializes in innovating intelligent materials and compounds. At Acoerela, our core business is to identify and address the inconvenience and frustration in scientists who want to do accurate, reliable, and quick analysis of their samples enabled by our innovative and unique dye platform. Our launch market are exosome researchers, who can come from both the academia and industry spaces globally. We are working towards capturing the nanoparticle therapeutics and diagnostics market. Our mission is to drive chemical innovation in optical probes for research and clinical diagnostics.
