We are seeking an experienced React & Node.js Tech Lead to oversee the design, development, and architectural strategy of high-performing, enterprise-scale web applications. In this role, you will balance hands-on full-stack development with technical leadership, guiding a team of engineers, driving architectural decisions, and enforcing engineering best practices across front-end and back-end systems.
Candidates must possess direct, hands-on experience working within Public Sector environments and Global Capability Centers (GCCs).
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of full-stack, front-end, and back-end engineers within a GCC environment through technical coaching, regular code reviews, and pair programming.
- Establish engineering standards, code guidelines, testing patterns, and architectural paradigms compliant with public sector governance and enterprise protocols.
- Act as a key liaison between GCC technical teams, global leadership, product management, and UX/UI design to translate business goals into scalable software solutions.
2. Architecture & System Design
- Architect scalable, maintainable, and highly secure web applications using modern React, Node.js, and TypeScript stacks.
- Design robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs, microservices, and serverless functions tailored to enterprise and public sector compliance requirements.
- Make critical decisions regarding data store selections, caching strategies, state management, accessibility standards, and secure third-party integrations.
3. Software Engineering & Execution
- Maintain hands-on contribution (approx. 50–60% coding/architecture, 40–50% leadership/review).
- Optimize web application performance across the entire rendering pipeline, from front-end bundle sizing to database query efficiency.
- Implement and advocate for CI/CD, automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end), secure coding standards, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Core Requirements (Must-Have)
- Public Sector Experience: Hands-on experience building, deploying, or maintaining software solutions within public sector/government agencies, ensuring compliance with regulatory, privacy, and security frameworks.
- GCC Experience: Proven track record working within a Global Capability Center (GCC) setup, managing global stakeholder communication, cross-border execution, and distributed team workflows.
Technical Skills
- Front-End: 5+ years of production experience with React (including Hooks, Context API, Next.js, and state management frameworks like Redux or Zustand).
- Back-End: 5+ years with Node.js and frameworks such as Express, NestJS, or Fastify.
- Languages: Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Databases: Deep understanding of SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) systems, including query tuning and schema design.
- DevOps & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), and cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Testing & Tools: Experience with modern test frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright) and version control workflows (GitFlow).
Leadership & Soft Skills
- 2+ years of experience in a Technical Lead, Engineering Lead, or Principal Developer role.
- Proven track record of system design, architecture planning, and successfully shipping complex SaaS or public enterprise web applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a clear, concise communication style for both local GCC teams and global enterprise leadership.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with GraphQL, Micro-frontends, or WebSockets.
- AWS, Azure, or GCP Certified Solutions Architect/Developer credentials.
- Familiarity with public sector compliance standards (e.g., FedRAMP, GDPR, SOC 2, Web Accessibility/WCAG 2.1).
