Finance Operations Manager

Reporting To: Finance Director / Regional Finance Manager

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Job Summary

The role will be responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring strong financial governance and balance sheet integrity, and providing meaningful insights to support business decisions. You will work closely with operations and senior leadership to improve profitability, manage costs, optimize working capital, and strengthen financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
• Prepare monthly management reports, financial reviews, and variance analysis.
• Analyze financial and operational performance and identify key trends and risks.
• Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for cost optimization and margin improvement.
• Provide financial modelling and analysis to support strategic and operational decisions.

Controllership & Balance Sheet

• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial statements, accruals, provisions, and journal entries.
• Lead regular balance sheet reviews and account reconciliations.
• Monitor working capital and drive initiatives to improve balance sheet performance.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and financial regulations.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and follow up on audit findings.

Business Partnering

• Work closely with operations, supply chain, commercial, and leadership teams to support business performance.
• Provide financial guidance on operational initiatives, investments, and capital expenditure.
• Translate financial data into clear recommendations and actionable business insights.
• Support initiatives aimed at improving profitability, efficiency, and cost management.

Team Leadership & Process Improvement

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
• Drive improvements in finance processes, reporting, controls, and automation.
• Leverage financial systems and business intelligence tools to improve reporting and decision-making.
• Promote a data-driven approach across the finance function.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive experience in Finance, FP&A, Controllership, or Operations Finance.
• Strong experience in FP&A, Balance Sheet Management, Controllership, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial governance.
• Proven experience in business partnering and stakeholder management.
• Demonstrated experience managing and developing finance teams.
• Experience within a multinational or complex operational environment is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in SAP, Hyperion, Alteryx, Power BI, and advanced Excel.
• Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
• ACCA / CA / CPA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
