Main Purpose of the Position:
To manage and ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the plant’s electrical systems and infrastructure, while leading electrical maintenance, plant improvement projects, energy management and statutory compliance activities.
Job Description:
- Execute plant improvement, modification and expansion projects, from detailed engineering, estimation and tendering through installation, testing and site commissioning.
- Ensure the availability, reliability and optimal performance of 33kV/11kV/415V electrical distribution network assets, including switchgear, transformers, cables, protection systems and associated equipment, at optimum cost and safety.
- Plan, implement and monitor Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions for electrical failures, recurring breakdowns and equipment reliability issues.
- Monitor and report plant energy consumption, identify opportunities for energy optimization and drive energy efficiency initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements, including Certificate of Competency/Registration (CoC/CoR), statutory inspections, electrical safety requirements and competent person requirements.
- Coordinate with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) on electrical supply matters, load management, planned outages, power interruptions and related technical requirements.
- Prepare technical estimations, specifications, tender documents and cost evaluations for electrical projects, modifications and Management of Change (MOC) activities.
- Manage and coordinate electrical contractors, consultants, suppliers and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, within budget, quality standards and agreed timelines.
- Supervise and lead the electrical maintenance team, including manpower planning, work allocation, performance monitoring and technical development.
- Ensure strict compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit-to-Work (PTW) and other electrical safety procedures for all maintenance and project activities.
- Maintain and review electrical drawings, equipment records, maintenance history, inspection reports and statutory documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability, electrical safety, maintenance effectiveness and operating cost.
Job Requirements
1.Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
2.Experience
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, maintenance and/or project execution.
- Previous experience in chemical, oleochemical, petrochemical or process plant construction/operations is preferred.
- Strong experience in HV/MV/LV electrical distribution systems, preferably within an industrial or process plant environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of switchgear, transformers, protection relays, VFDs and electrical distribution systems.
- Experience in RCA/CAPA methodology and electrical failure investigation.
- Exposure to SAP PM or other computerized maintenance management systems is preferred.
- Proven experience in project estimation, tendering, contractor management and commissioning.
- Strong team leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
3.Professional Certification
- ST Chargeman Certification – A4/B4 minimum; A0/B0 preferred – Mandatory.
