JOB OVERVIEW

GIA Hong Kong Campus is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and resourceful individual to join the Education Department as an Instructor/Associate Instructor. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about education, mentoring, and delivering an exceptional student experience within a diverse, multicultural environment.

Candidates with less experience or qualifications may be considered for the Associate Instructor position. This role provides both instructional and administrative support, offering hands‑on training and a clear pathway toward a full Instructor position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Instruction & Student Engagement
  • Deliver high-quality instruction for GIA programs, courses, corporate trainings, and seminars using all corresponding instruments and equipment as is necessary
  • Present course and training material effectively in alignment with GIA’s standards, integrity, and global reputation
  • Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and culturally sensitive learning environment
  • Provide constructive feedback and academic guidance to support student success
  • Address student concerns and elevate issues appropriately to the School Director or relevant stakeholders
Assessment & Academic Administration
  • Proctor examinations and evaluate student assignments accurately and promptly
  • Maintain and submit student grades and attendance records in accordance with institutional timelines
  • Ensure all academic records are complete, accurate, and properly documented
Operational & Administrative Support
  • Support day-to-day administrative and school functions as needed
  • Assist with classroom setup and ensure facilities meet GIA standards for effective learning
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records of working hours, travel, and related administrative reporting (e.g., Workday entries)
  • Support student services as required
Collaboration & Communication
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with colleagues, students, and management
  • Contribute to a positive and professional team environment
  • Interact professionally under pressure while maintaining high service standards
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Graduate Gemologist (GG) diploma (mandatory) is required
  • Completion of Form 6 or above; university degree preferred
  • Prior experience in the jewelry trade or education sector is advantageous
  • Proficiency in English and Cantonese is required; Mandarin is an asset
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
  • Advanced knowledge of gemstones, diamonds, and gemological identification techniques
  • Proficiency in the use of gemological equipment
  • Strong understanding of the jewelry industry and current trends
  • Ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively in an instructional setting
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced environment
  • High level of cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Participate in domestic and international travel frequently for instructional assignments, as required
WORK HOURS
  • Normal working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm with one hour lunch break
  • Shift-based schedule, including weekend, day and evening classes, as required
