Job Description

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Fabric Maintenance Engineer (Preventive) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing preventive fabric maintenance activities across offshore/onshore facilities, ensuring structural integrity, corrosion protection, and coating systems are maintained to the required standard. This role focuses on proactive, planned maintenance – developing and executing preventive maintenance programmes, condition assessments, and inspection schedules to minimise deterioration, extend asset life, and prevent unplanned failures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and schedule preventive fabric maintenance programmes (PMRs) for structures, coatings, and corrosion protection systems.
  • Prioritise and sequence preventive maintenance activities based on criticality, condition assessments, and asset integrity risk.
  • Maintain and update the preventive maintenance schedule within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS, e.g. Maximo or equivalent).
  • Coordinate resource planning and mobilisation for preventive maintenance campaigns, including materials, manpower, and equipment.

Fabric Maintenance & Condition Monitoring

  • Conduct regular condition assessments of structures, coatings, and corrosion-prone areas, reporting findings and recommending remedial actions.
  • Oversee execution of fabric maintenance activities including surface preparation, coating/painting, corrosion repair, and structural touch-ups.
  • Monitor and track fabric maintenance backlog, ensuring preventive tasks are closed out within planned intervals.
  • Support inspection campaigns (visual, NDT-assisted) in coordination with the integrity/inspection team.

Compliance, Safety & Documentation

  • Ensure all preventive maintenance work is carried out in compliance with company HSE standards and relevant codes/regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and preventive maintenance completion documentation.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, permit-to-work processes, and site safety briefings prior to maintenance activities.

Coordination & Continuous Improvement

  • Liaise with operations, integrity engineering, and project teams to align preventive maintenance plans with operational schedules.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors delivering fabric maintenance services, ensuring quality and schedule adherence.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Structural, Marine, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • 3–7 years of experience in fabric maintenance, corrosion/coating management, or preventive maintenance planning, ideally within oil & gas or offshore environments.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS platforms (e.g. Maximo) for preventive maintenance planning and tracking.
  • Familiarity with corrosion protection systems, coating standards (e.g. NACE/ISO), and structural inspection practices.
