Role Description The Marine Engine Technician and Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine engines and related systems on vessels and marine equipment. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine servicing, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, replacing parts, and conducting engine overhauls to ensure reliable performance and compliance with safety standards. The role involves reading and interpreting technical manuals and engineering drawings, documenting work performed, and collaborating with engineers and other technicians to plan and execute repair schedules. This position also includes on-site testing of engines, monitoring performance, and providing recommendations for improvements and preventive maintenance. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Klang.
Qualifications

• Strong practical skills in marine engine repair, maintenance, and diagnostics, including experience with diesel and auxiliary engines.
• Ability to work with mechanical systems such as propulsion systems, pumps, and rotating machinery, including use of appropriate hand and power tools.
• Basic understanding of marine electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation, with the ability to support troubleshooting under guidance.
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulations related to marine operations, and commitment to safe work practices in shipyards and on vessels.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and engineering drawings, and to maintain clear service records and reports.
• Relevant technical certification or diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience is highly valued.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and clients in a multicultural environment.
• Willingness to work on-site in Klang, adapt to changing project needs, and occasionally work extended or irregular hours when required.
