YOUR ROLE
The Automation Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of warehouse automation and robotics systems. The role provides technical support for automation operations, develops maintenance strategies, manage supplier relationships and after-sales support through regular performance reviews, and builds technical competencies within warehouse operations teams.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Automation Operations Support
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for warehouse automation systems
- Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective actions to minimize system downtime and disruptions
- Coordinate vendor escalation and issue resolution
- Monitor automation system performance and reliability
Maintenance Management
- Develop preventive maintenance programmes to maximize equipment reliability
- Manage maintenance schedules and spare parts planning to ensure timely support and cost-effective operations
- Support equipment lifecycle management, including upgrades, replacement and end-of-life planning
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to optimise automation performance, productivity and scalability
- Analyse operational data and recommend improvement opportunities
- Lead and manage automation enhancement, upgrade and optimization projects
Training and Capability Development
- Develop training materials and SOP
- Conduct technical training for operations teams
- Build first-level troubleshooting capabilities within operations to improve self-sufficiency and response time
- Maintain engineering documentation and knowledge repositories
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Degree or Masters in Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Automation or Supply Chain with a relevant specialization
- Minimum 3 years of experience in automation, robotics or industrial engineering
- Strong in data crunching and analysis
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience supporting automated warehouse or manufacturing systems
- Experience with Goods-to-Person systems, AMRs/AGVs, Conveyor and sortation systems, Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Knowledge of PLC and industrial controls
- Experience in root cause analysis and preventive maintenance
- Comfortable with presenting and communicating with customers and stakeholders within all levels of the organization
- Good and adaptive team player with strong interpersonal skills
