Job Description

Responsibilities

WSH Coordinator ( with Lifting Supervisor cert )

A. Main Responsibilities

  1. Identify and understand responsibilities under the Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) Act and all relevant regulations.
  2. Ensure full compliance with the organization’s WSH policies, procedures, and programmes.
  3. Educate and brief workers on WSH policies, safe work procedures (SWP), and risk controls.
  4. Implement and monitor participation and consultation channels to facilitate management–worker communication on WSH matters.
  5. Implement and monitor the organization’s Risk Management (RM) procedures, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control measures.
  6. Establish and maintain the overall framework of the WSH Management System.
  7. Establish and maintain effective participation and communication channels for WSH management.
  8. Establish and maintain organization-wide RM procedures in alignment with ISO and statutory requirements.
  9. Evaluate and review WSH systems, policies, procedures, and programmes to ensure continual improvement.
  10. Supervise Lifting activities
  11. Perform other ad-hoc WSH duties as assigned by management.
  12. The employee may be assigned to multiple sites, projects, or locations in accordance with operational requirements.

B. Daily / Routine Site Duties

  1. Conduct daily site inspections and walk-downs to identify hazards, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
  2. Ensure all workers comply with safe work procedures, permit-to-work systems, and site safety requirements.
  3. Verify that workers have valid training (e.g., CSOC, WAH, HOT WORK) before commencing work.
  4. Inspect machinery, tools, lifting equipment, and work areas to ensure proper maintenance and safe operation.
  5. Ensure subcontractors adhere to the main contractor’s safety rules and correct unsafe practices immediately.
  6. Maintain site readiness for audits, inspections, and emergency response.

C. Accident & Incident Prevention

  1. Promote a Zero Accident and Zero Harm safety culture throughout the workplace.
  2. Identify potential risks early and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  3. Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and safety promotion campaigns.
  4. Lead or assist in incident / near-miss investigation, root-cause analysis, and follow-up corrective action closure.
  5. Monitor and analyze safety performance indicators to prevent recurrence.

D. Documentation & Reporting

  1. Maintain and update all WSH documentation including RA, SWP, PTW, checklists, safety registers, and inspection records.
  2. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly WSH reports for management review.
  3. Ensure all safety documentation meets statutory, main contractor, and audit requirements.

E. Safety Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate full commitment to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements and ensure compliance across all workplace activities.

F. Environmental Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate full commitment to Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements and ensure compliance with ISO 14001 guidelines.

G. Requirements

  1. Academic & Professional Qualifications
  2. Diploma in Building / Civil Engineering.
  3. WSHC Advanced Diploma certification.
  4. RSO (Registered Safety Officer) & ECO (Environmental Control Officer) certificates.
  5. Other relevant safety certifications (e.g., Lifting Supervisor, Confined Space, Work at Height) will be an advantage.
  6. Knowledge & Competency
  7. Fully conversant with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  8. Strong understanding of risk management, incident investigation, WSH documentation, and safe work procedures.
  9. Main Contractor & Industry Requirements
  10. Must pass all Main Contractor Safety Requirement Tests (e.g., DfMA, Safe Lifting, LTA/BCA-specific safety modules).
