Role Description The Computer Lab Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based at the Faculty of Built Environment, TAR UMT in WP. Kuala Lumpur. The role involves providing day-to-day technical support in computer labs, including assisting users with hardware and software issues, basic troubleshooting, and ensuring computers and peripherals are functioning properly. The assistant helps maintain operating systems and applications, updates software as directed, and reports technical issues to relevant IT personnel. Daily tasks also include monitoring lab usage, enforcing lab policies, supporting teaching and learning activities that rely on computers, and ensuring a safe, orderly, and user-friendly environment. The role requires collaborating with academic and administrative staff, responding promptly to user inquiries, and maintaining accurate records of lab equipment and incidents.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong technical support and troubleshooting skills to assist users and resolve common computer lab issues.
• Candidates should possess solid computer literacy and familiarity with standard software applications used in academic settings.
• Candidates should possess working knowledge of operating systems, including installation, configuration, and basic maintenance.
• Candidates should possess effective communication skills to interact with students, academic staff, and technical teams in a clear and professional manner.
• Candidates should possess strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to follow established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Diploma or equivalent qualification in IT, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred; prior experience in a computer lab or helpdesk environment is an advantage.
• Ability to work on-site full-time in WP. Kuala Lumpur and support occasional extended hours during peak academic periods.
