Job Purpose
As a Quantity Surveyor under the GEP PROTÉGÉ Programme, you will support the Contracts & Commercial team in contract administration and commercial management for infrastructure works. The role involves assisting in contract performance, payment valuation, variations, claims, disputes and final account activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Contracts & Commercial Person-in-Charge in managing infrastructure works packages.
- Assist in identifying contract changes, preparing cost estimates and reporting to the superior.
- Monitor work progress and key project dates/milestones.
- Maintain correspondence records and draft contractual letters for review.
- Review subcontractors’ payment applications and prepare payment certificates/payment requisitions.
- Assist in contract administration in accordance with the Conditions of Contract (COC).
- Ensure compliance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Assist in preparing and finalising final accounts.
- Monitor contractual and commercial issues and matters.
- Compile quotations for review and evaluation.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports for the superior and relevant stakeholders.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers on contractual and commercial matters.
- Participate in Contracts & Commercial meetings with subcontractors and prepare minutes of meetings.
- Support compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements and participate in project audits.
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed by the Head of Contracts & Commercial / General Manager.
Key Challenges
- Ensure timely submission and processing of payment applications and payment certificates.
- Assist in the valuation and finalisation of variations.
- Ensure contractual and commercial information is properly maintained and readily available for decision-making.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Strong interest in Quantity Surveying, Contracts & Commercial Management.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply for the GEP PROTÉGÉ Programme.
- Computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
- Good understanding of construction processes and practices.
- Good negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organise, plan and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Willing to learn, take responsibility and work collaboratively with the project team.
