Job Responsibilities
1.1 Review drawings, prepare accurate material take-offs, cost estimates and budget proposals for tendering and client approval.
1.2 Prepare detailed cost estimates, material take-offs and pricing schedules.
1.3 Evaluate supplier/subcontractor quotations; advise on cost competitiveness for tender submissions.
2.1 Prepare detailed cost estimates, bill of quantities (BOQ) and project budgets for mechanical and electrical works.
2.2 Analyze material, labour, equipment and subcontractor costs; optimize designs for best value.
3.1 Track real-time expenditure against budget; identify cost overruns early and propose corrective actions.
3.2 Assess cost impact of design changes/site variations; prepare cost comparisons and final settlement.
4.1 Plan, review and approve technical drawings, designs and specifications for all mechanical systems: HVAC, pumping systems, piping, ducting, fire protection, water treatment and mechanical equipment.
4.2 Supervise and perform hands-on site work: installation, alignment, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of pumps, motors, compressors, fans, valves, generators and other mechanical machinery.
4.3 Verify material quality, conduct pressure testing, load testing and performance verification; ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
4.4 Optimize mechanical system design for efficiency, cost-effectiveness and long-term reliability.
5.1 Oversee electrical system design, single-line diagrams, wiring layouts and control systems.
5.2 Oversee installation activities related to transmission lines, substations, and distribution networks.
5.3 Carry out on-site electrical work: installation, termination, testing, earthing/insulation checks, fault diagnosis and repair for low-voltage (LV) systems, control panels, motor starters, sensors and automation components.
5.4 Ensure all electrical works comply with TNB regulations, IEC standards and local safety codes; liaise with authorized bodies for inspections and approvals.
5.5 Manage integration between electrical controls and mechanical equipment (e.g. pump-motor control, automation systems).
6.1 Lead, train and mentor M&E technicians, site crews and subcontractors; set clear technical standards and safety protocols.
6.2 Coordinate with civil, architectural, plumbing teams, clients, consultants and suppliers to align project progress.
6.3 Review project schedules, resolve technical conflicts, and ensure timely delivery within budget.
6.4 Maintain full technical documentation: test reports, as-built drawings, operation manuals and maintenance logs.
6.5 Conduct site safety audits and ensure all works follow DOSH guidelines.
7.1 Oversee and perform hands-on installation, testing, commissioning of HVAC, pumps, motors, LV systems, panels and controls.
8.1 Ensure works meet DOSH/TNB/IEC standards; prepare cost analysis and project financial summaries.
9.1 Analyze failure data, upgrade tracking tools, and implement root-cause solutions.
Requirements
· Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in building/industrial M&E works; at least 3 years in a supervisory or technical lead role.
· Solid knowledge of both mechanical systems (pumps, piping, HVAC) and low-voltage electrical systems, controls and wiring.
· Valid certification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related technical field; Wiring Certificate (PW2/PW4) or G1/G2 plumbing license is an added advantage.
· Proven ability to work hands-on at project sites and solve complex technical problems independently.
· Proficient in reading engineering drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
· Strong leadership, communication and project coordination skills.
· Willing to travel nationwide for site visits and project supervision.
· Possess valid Class B or higher driving license is an added advantage.
Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month
