Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Instrument Engineer to provide technical engineering support and expertise in instrumentation and control systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting engineering activities, maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and industry standards.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, as well as the ability to support plant operations, maintenance activities, projects, and reliability improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and engineering expertise for Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems.
  • Provide technical input and support in the execution of the Instrument Engineering Strategy, Business Plan and Policy.
  • Support engineering design, technical documentation, specifications, drawings, calculations, and engineering deliverables.
  • Work with field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow and level transmitters.
  • Support and troubleshoot control systems including PLC, DCS, SIS and FGS systems.
  • Support machinery control and measurement systems.
  • Perform and/or support loop checking, function testing, commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues and conduct root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Provide technical support for plant maintenance activities, including planned and corrective maintenance.
  • Support plant turnaround and shutdown activities where required.
  • Ensure maintenance and engineering activities are properly documented and records are accurately maintained.
  • Prepare technical reports, maintenance reports, engineering documentation and other required reports.
  • Ensure engineering and maintenance activities comply with applicable safety requirements, regulatory requirements, international standards and industry best practices.
  • Participate in Toolbox Sessions / Toolbox Talks and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, reliability enhancement and asset performance improvement.
  • Provide technical input for EPC, brownfield, commissioning and start-up projects.
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, vendors and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Support reliability engineering, asset integrity and inspection-related activities where required.
  • Maintain accurate records and utilise SAP ECC6 Plant Maintenance (PM) Module for maintenance-related activities.

  • Brownfield projects

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in the related industry, preferably in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Engineering, Plant Maintenance or related industries.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering or other relevant Engineering discipline, or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong technical knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Familiar with SAP ECC6 – Plant Maintenance (PM) Module.
  • Good computer skills and proficient in preparing technical reports and documentation.
  • Good report writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willing to work at plant sites, including during maintenance, shutdown, turnaround, commissioning or project activities when required.
