Role Description The Medical Records Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in WP Kuala Lumpur at Sunway Medical Centre Velocity. This role is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and updating patient records in both electronic and physical formats, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with hospital policies. Day-to-day tasks include scanning inpatient, outpatient notes, verifying documentation completeness, data entry into health information systems, and supporting clinicians and administrative staff with record-related requests. The Medical Records Assistant will answer phone and counter inquiries professionally, manage requests for medical reports, and coordinate with various departments to facilitate smooth records flow. The role also involves following data protection guidelines, participating in audits, and contributing to continuous improvement of medical records processes.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong clerical skills and basic health information management knowledge, including experience with filing, data entry, and records organization.
  • Candidates should possess familiarity with medical terminology to accurately interpret and process clinical documentation.
  • Candidates should possess effective communication and phone etiquette skills to interact professionally with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Candidates should possess attention to detail, confidentiality awareness, and the ability to follow standardized procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Relevant experience in a hospital or clinic setting, especially within medical records or administrative functions, is advantageous.
  • A diploma or certificate in health information management, medical records, healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy and experience with electronic medical record (EMR) or hospital information systems will be beneficial.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, adapt to a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate reliability in handling sensitive information.
