Software Engineering Team Lead

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Team Lead to guide and orchestrate our distributed engineering team in building and delivering an end-to-end digital health platform spanning Mobile, Web, Backend APIs, and Cloud Infrastructure.

In this role, you don't need to be a hands-on coding expert across every layer of the stack. Instead, you bring deep technical strength in core architecture combined with enough multi-platform breadth to guide the development team, evaluate technical trade-offs, and ensure overall delivery velocity and quality.

You will act as the operational bridge between the business team, the solution architect and the remote software engineering team, turning high-level business requirements and system blueprints into executable sprints.

Responsibilities

1. Remote Team Leadership & Delivery

• Lead, mentor, and drive delivery for a remote engineering team composed of frontend, mobile, backend, and QA engineers.

• Drive day-to-day Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, retrospectives, and cross-team unblocking).

• Manage engineering sprint velocity, resolve scope ambiguity, and track cross-layer dependencies (e.g., ensuring backend APIs are ready when mobile/web teams need them).

• Uphold code review standards, documentation hygiene, and automated testing quality across the team.

  2. End-to-End Technical Alignment & Integration

• Partner closely with business team and solution architect to translate business requirements and solution blueprints into detailed technical tasks and milestone deliverables.

• Provide technical direction and cohesion across the multi-platform stack:

• System & Backend: Drive design decisions on API schemas, data persistence, and microservices/serverless architectures.

• Mobile & Web: Guide and evaluate mobile (iOS/Android/Cross-platform) and web frontend teams on state management, security, performance, and contract compliance.

• Cloud & DevOps: Oversee automated CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.

• Identify technical debt, architecture risks, and non-functional bottlenecks (latency, scalability, data privacy) early.

  3. Medical Device Quality & Compliance

• Ensure team execution adheres to medical device software lifecycle standards (IEC 62304, ISO 13485) and security/data privacy guidelines (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).

• Oversee the technical documentation required for verification, validation (V&V), and regulatory audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• 6+ years in software engineering, with at least 2+ years in a tech lead, team lead, or engineering management capacity.

• Core Technical Depth:

• Proven deep proficiency in at least one major layer of the modern tech stack (e.g., Backend systems in Python, Node.js, or Java).

• Strong expertise in relational and non-relational database design, distributed systems, and API design principles.

• Multi-Platform Architectural Fluency:

• Conceptual and working understanding of modern mobile development (e.g., Flutter, React Native, iOS/Android lifecycle) and modern web frontend (e.g., React, TypeScript, Vue) sufficient to review technical proposals, debug cross-system boundaries, and unblock engineers.

• Solid working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS) and automated CI/CD pipelines.

• Proven track record leading distributed, remote, or hybrid engineering teams to ship production software on time.

• Good written and verbal communication skills to clearly translate architectural vision into concrete developer tasks and communicate status upward.
