Key Responsibilities
- Primary HV Substation Design: Lead technical solutions and detailed primary design deliverables for high-voltage substations (132kV to 330kV+), including AIS/GIS switchgear, transformers, busbars, and surge arresters.
- Data Center Focus: Develop and optimize HV substation and critical power intake designs specifically tailored to mission-critical Data Center infrastructure.
- Core Engineering Calculations: Perform busbar sizing, short-circuit force calculations, earthing design, lightning protection, and safety clearance studies.
- Cross-Discipline Coordination: Work closely with civil, structural, and secondary engineering teams to deliver unified design packages.
- Technical Interface: Engage directly with Australian project managers, clients, and network service providers to resolve design challenges and ensure compliance.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (recognized by BEM / IEM or equivalent).
- Experience: Minimum 6+ years of hands-on primary HV substation design experience within engineering consultancies.
- Domain Expertise: Must have direct design experience in HV/EHV substations for Data Center projects or heavy utility/industrial power intake systems.
- Software: Proficient with CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit) and industry-standard power calculation tools.
- Standards Awareness: Knowledge of AS/NZS, IEC, or equivalent international grid/substation design frameworks.
