The Role

The Project Engineer is responsible for the design, programming, commissioning and handover of building management systems and the CobiNeural smart operation platform.

You will be deployed on active project sites across the Klang Valley and Johor, taking ownership of systems from engineering documentation through commissioning, performance verification and final handover.

Cobler Sdn Bhd is a Malaysia Digital certified IIoT and building automation company. Our systems are operating across 50+ commercial buildings in Malaysia, Australia and the Philippines.

What You Will Work On

Design - Develop IO schedules from M&E drawings and specifications, covering point counts, signal types, panel layouts, controller selection and network topology.

Programming - Develop and structure control logic for chilled water plants, AHUs and FCUs, including chiller staging and rotation, condenser and secondary pump control, temperature reset, VSD control, interlocks, alarms and trend logging.

Integration - Integrate third-party equipment using BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU over RS-485 and LoRaWAN.

Commissioning - Conduct point-to-point testing from field device to graphic. Verify sensor calibration, valve and damper operation, VSD response, interlocks and failure modes. Tune control loops to achieve stable plant operation.

Platform Deployment - Install and commission wireless sensors and energy meters. Verify that platform data reconciles with field instrumentation, then configure dashboards, analytics and reports.

Performance Verification - Analyze trend data after handover, compare actual operation against the intended sequence and quantify energy performance and savings.

Project Close-OutPrepare as-built drawings, point lists and system backups. Conduct operator training and complete handover with no unresolved technical issues carried forward to the service team.

How We Work

Engineers in this role are assessed against four principles:

Accountability - Own your site, your figures and your reports. Focus on identifying the problem, the corrective action and its owner rather than apportioning blame.

Collaboration - Commissioning is a team undertaking. You will work with M&E contractors, ACMV vendors and software engineers. Your ability to resolve issues with different parties is part of the job.

Integrity - Report what was actually measured. If something is uncertain, raise it early rather than make an assumption and discover the problem later.

Discipline - Checklists, version control, documentation and punctuality are requirements, not preferences. Technical ability without discipline does not survive commissioning.

What We Are Looking For

• Degree in mechatronics, electrical, electronic, mechanical or instrumentation engineering.
• Clear written and spoken English, including the ability to communicate directly with clients.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel between Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar software and technologies quickly.
• Ability to explain and substantiate a technical decision when questioned.
• Genuine interest in buildings, energy, automation and control systems.
• Hands-on project experience is an advantage.

Fresh graduates with strong evidence of hands-on project work are encouraged to apply.

Suitability

This is not a desk-based engineering role.

The position involves a high degree of independence, substantial site work, direct client exposure and, when required, work outside normal hours. Your technical output will be reviewed closely by senior engineers.

Candidates who prefer close supervision, predominantly office-based work or a predictable routine during their first year may not find this role suitable.
