Mechanical Engineer – Singapore
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of non-standard automated equipment, including machine architecture, mechanical structures, mechanisms, and overall equipment design.
- Develop 3D models, simulations, detailed drawings, and mechanical design solutions using 2D/3D CAD tools.
- Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and handling mechanisms for customized automation systems.
- Select and integrate motors, pneumatic components, linear motion components, and other standard mechanical parts, and develop overall motion concepts.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, technical specifications, process documents, and design standards.
- Work closely with suppliers and the supply chain team to support custom part sourcing, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
- Support equipment assembly, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure successful system integration and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the full equipment development cycle, from concept and design through assembly, testing, and commissioning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, preferably in automation equipment or customized machinery.
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software and experienced in mechanical modelling and detailed drawing.
- Strong understanding of machining, mechanical assembly, mechanism design, and structural strength/stiffness.
- Able to independently handle relatively complex mechanical design projects from concept through implementation.
- Experience with non-standard automation equipment, robotic integration, or material/handling systems is highly preferred.
- Experience in biomedical, chemical, laboratory, or medical device equipment is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Willing to travel internationally for training and project-related activities.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with end-to-end experience in:
Non-standard Automation Equipment → 3D Mechanical Design → Assembly → Testing → Commissioning
Experience with handling modules, pick-and-place mechanisms, customized machinery, or automated equipment will be particularly relevant.
