Responsibilities
Physiotherapist – Elderly Day Care (Fresh Graduate)
Position Overview
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Fresh Graduate Physiotherapist to join our elderly day care and rehabilitation team. The role focuses on helping seniors maintain and improve their mobility, strength, balance, independence, and overall quality of life in a safe and supportive environment.
The ideal candidate should be patient, enthusiastic, willing to learn, and comfortable working with elderly individuals with different physical and functional abilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation
- Conduct basic physiotherapy assessments for elderly clients.
- Develop and carry out appropriate exercise and rehabilitation programmes under supervision/guidance where required.
- Provide individual and group exercise sessions focusing on:
- Strength and conditioning
- Balance and coordination
- Flexibility and mobility
- Walking and gait training
- Sit-to-stand and functional exercises
- Fall prevention
- Assist clients with safe transfers, walking and mobility activities.
- Monitor clients during exercises and modify activities according to their ability and tolerance.
- Recognise changes in physical condition and report concerns to the appropriate senior staff.
2. Elderly Day Care Activities
- Participate in and support daily activities designed to improve physical and cognitive function.
- Conduct simple group exercises, chair exercises and mobility activities.
- Encourage seniors to participate actively and safely.
- Create a fun, positive and engaging rehabilitation environment.
3. Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate physiotherapy assessment and progress records.
- Document clients' exercise participation, progress and relevant observations.
- Communicate clients' progress and concerns with the centre's team and family members when appropriate.
- Work closely with caregivers and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
4. Safety & Client Support
- Ensure exercises and activities are conducted safely.
- Identify potential fall risks and assist in implementing appropriate preventive measures.
- Provide appropriate assistance during mobility and exercise sessions.
- Follow the centre's SOPs, safety procedures and infection-control practices.
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognised institution.
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
- Registered with the relevant Malaysian professional body, where applicable.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, compassionate and comfortable working with elderly clients.
- Willing to learn and receive guidance from senior physiotherapists and care managers.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Responsible, punctual and enthusiastic.
- Able to conduct activities in English and/or Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an added advantage.
