ROLE OVERVIEW
The Senior Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing credit evaluation, approval, and ongoing portfolio monitoring to ensure effective risk management and compliance with the Company’s credit policies. The role involves assessing loan applications, recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures, and supporting enhancements to credit guidelines to promote sustainable asset growth.
In addition, the role provides leadership by driving team performance, coaching and developing staff, and improving credit processing quality across functions, while supporting senior management through portfolio reviews and strategic credit insights.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertake credit approval for loan applications.
- Conduct credit risk appraisal and evaluation of loan applications and recommend mitigation measures for identified risks to the relevant approving authority.
- Perform annual reviews of existing loan accounts and recommend actions to address any new or evolving risks.
- Ensure compliance with the Company’s credit policies while maintaining a balanced approach to support the growth of quality assets.
- Recommend enhancements to lending guidelines and credit policies to safeguard the Company’s interests while supporting sustainable asset growth.
- Drive team members to achieve set targets and deliver on planned initiatives.
- Provide regular coaching to support team members’ development and performance excellence.
- Deliver training and guidance to enhance the quality of credit processing and improve proficiency among credit and marketing personnel.
- Undertake other credit-related assignments and ad-hoc duties as required from time to time.
- Conduct portfolio reviews for presentation to the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Solid knowledge of financial analysis, credit assessment, and risk evaluation techniques.
Work Experience, Skills & Competencies
- Minimum 15 years of experience in credit assessment, underwriting, or credit risk management.
- Hands-on experience in evaluating credit proposals and performing detailed financial and cash flow analysis.
- Strong analytical skills and sound credit judgement.
- Ability to coach and develop credit team members.
