Job Description

Responsibilities

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us as casual Tour Guides at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. The role involves representing Esplanade and delivering engaging and memorable guided tours to groups of approximately 20 to 40 participants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct a variety of guided tours at Esplanade
  • Deliver engaging and informative narratives about Esplanade’s history, architecture, performance venues, artistic programmes, and cultural significance.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy public speaking, have a passion for the arts, and are enthusiastic about creating meaningful visitor experiences while representing one of Singapore’s national performing arts centres.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Training

Successful applicants will undergo a structured orientation and training programme before conducting tours independently. The programme includes:

  • Classroom training
  • Tour observations
  • Practice and run-through sessions
  • Mock tour assessments

2. Requirements

  • Minimum qualification: GCE O-Level
  • Prior experience leading group tours at performing arts venues, attractions or similar environments is preferred
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance, with a friendly demeanour
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

3. Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Strong customer service orientation and professional demeanour
  • Physically fit and comfortable with prolonged walking and standing
  • Creative thinker who can adapt content and storytelling approaches to different audience types
  • Confident in engaging with diverse audiences, including students, families, tourists and members of the public
  • Passion for the arts
  • Proficiency in a third language will be an advantage in supporting a diverse range of local and international visitors

The rate of pay for this role is $25 per tour session.

Successful candidates will have to complete 3 days of mandatory training and pass the tour assessment.
