Project Director – Data Centre

Location: Malaysia | Sector: Data Centres / Mission Critical | Leading PMC

About the Role

Our client, a leading PMC, is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a major Data Centre project in Malaysia. The successful candidate will provide overall project leadership from design and pre-construction through construction, commissioning and handover, acting as a senior representative of the PMC and client.

A strong design background and detailed understanding of design management is essential. You will manage and challenge multidisciplinary design teams, identify design and coordination risks, and ensure the design is aligned with project, programme, technical and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Data Centre project.
• Lead the project through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including MEP, CSA, structural and architectural disciplines.
• Review and challenge design proposals, constructability and technical solutions.
• Ensure effective integration between design, construction and commissioning.
• Act as the senior point of contact for the client, consultants and contractors.
• Oversee programme, cost, quality, risk and change management.
• Monitor consultant and contractor performance and drive project delivery.
• Lead senior project meetings, progress reviews and stakeholder discussions.
• Identify and resolve project risks, technical issues and coordination challenges.
• Provide leadership to multidisciplinary project teams.
• Support commissioning, testing and final project handover.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related discipline.
• 15+ years' experience in major construction/project delivery.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale Data Centre or mission-critical projects.
• Strong design management/design consultancy background.
• Detailed understanding of Data Centre MEP, CSA, structural and architectural design.
• Experience managing projects from design development through construction and commissioning.
• Previous PMC, consultancy, client-side or developer experience highly desirable.
• Strong stakeholder management and client-facing skills.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of programme, risk, commercial and project controls.
• Excellent communication, leadership and decision-making skills.

Data Centre / mission-critical experience and a strong design background are essential for this position.
