Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer to join our Flat Optics research team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of next-generation flat optics technologies for emerging applications in imaging, optical sensing, and advanced display systems. The role involves device fabrication, characterization, and integration of flat-optics components with optoelectronic devices, supporting the translation of innovative research into practical technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the fabrication and characterization of nanophotonic and flat-optics devices.
  • Perform micro- and nanofabrication processes in a cleanroom environment, including lithography, thin-film deposition, etching, and related semiconductor processing techniques.
  • Integrate flat-optics components with optoelectronic devices and imaging systems.
  • Conduct optical and structural characterization, analyze experimental data, and prepare technical reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and contribute to technology development projects with academic and industrial partners.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, follow cleanroom safety procedures, and document experimental processes and results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong interest in optics, semiconductor processing, or optoelectronic devices.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience working in a semiconductor or micro-/nanofabrication cleanroom.
  • Experience with thin-film deposition techniques such as sputtering, electron-beam evaporation, thermal evaporation, atomic layer deposition (ALD), or chemical vapor deposition (CVD).
  • Familiarity with lithography, plasma etching, wafer processing, or semiconductor fabrication techniques.
  • Experience in optical characterization or microscopy is an advantage.
  • Programming or data analysis skills (e.g., Python or MATLAB) are desirable.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge flat-optics technologies with real-world applications.
  • Exposure to advanced nanofabrication and characterization facilities.
  • Collaboration with leading researchers and industry partners.
  • A dynamic, multidisciplinary research environment with opportunities for professional development.
