Position Summary

Seeking a technically capable and hands-on Project Engineer with M&E experience to strengthen the Company's internal project team.

The role will provide day-to-day technical oversight and coordination across electrical activities, material requirements, fabrication, construction interfaces and general site engineering.

This position is not intended to be a dedicated electrical engineering role. Instead, the successful candidate will provide sufficient technical oversight of the electrical team while also supporting the wider project team in mechanical, fabrication and construction activities.

A key objective is to improve technical control, material planning, documentation, coordination and accountability across site activities.

Mining experience is advantageous but not mandatory. Relevant experience from heavy industry, process plants, cement, quarry, steel, power, manufacturing, EPC/EPCM or other industrial projects will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical Team Technical Oversight

• Provide day-to-day technical coordination and oversight of electrical activities.
• Monitor electrical team work plans, activities and progress.
• Review electrical installation against approved drawings and specifications.
• Ensure electrical activities are properly coordinated with mechanical equipment installation.
• Review technical requirements raised by the electrical team.
• Coordinate with electrical specialists, suppliers and external contractors where required.
• Follow up electrical technical issues and ensure timely resolution.

2. Electrical Material & Procurement Control

• Review technical requirements for electrical materials, components, cables, equipment and consumables.
• Check material requisitions against drawings, BOQ, specifications and actual site requirements.
• Monitor material ordering and consumption.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate requirements and improve procurement planning.
• Maintain proper records of materials ordered, received, issued and utilised.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Stores on technical specifications and requirements.
• Review whether requested materials are technically appropriate and required.
• Monitor tools and equipment used by the electrical team.
• Identify unusual, excessive or unexplained material requirements and escalate for management review.

3. General Site Engineering & Construction Coordination

• Support the internal project team in day-to-day site execution.
• Monitor progress against approved drawings, specifications and project schedule.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, fabrication, structural and other engineering activities.
• Review fabrication activities against approved drawings and specifications.
• Identify clashes, discrepancies and technical issues between design and actual site conditions.
• Coordinate technical queries and engineering changes.
• Assist with inspection and quality verification of completed works.
• Track punch-list items and follow up their closure.

4. Engineering Documentation & Technical Control

• Review engineering drawings, layouts, single-line diagrams, equipment drawings and technical documents.
• Ensure site teams are working with the latest approved drawings.
• Maintain records of technical issues and engineering changes.
• Assist with material and equipment tracking.
• Monitor technical documentation required for equipment installation and commissioning.
• Prepare technical updates and progress information for management.

5. Commissioning Support

• Support mechanical and electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate electrical readiness for motors, pumps, conveyors, crushers, screens, mills and other process equipment.
• Assist with equipment testing and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate resolution of technical issues identified during commissioning.
• Support preparation of equipment and systems for operational handover.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, relevant or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant project, site or industrial engineering experience.
• Experience in industrial construction, equipment installation, fabrication, commissioning or maintenance.
• Good understanding of industrial electrical systems and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical interfaces.
• Experience working with technicians, contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organisational and documentation skills.
• Willingness to work at project / mine site.
• Hands-on and technical competent, strong attention to detail, good understanding of site execution, organized and disciplined in documentation and material control, able to ask the right technical questions and challenge requirements constructively, commercially aware and conscious of unnecessary expenditure, strong coordination and communication skills, able to work independently while maintaining proper reporting and comfortable working closely with technicians, engineers, procurement, contractors and management

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
