We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Cleaning Services Manager to oversee the company's cleaning operations, manpower deployment and service quality across client sites.
The role is responsible for ensuring cleaning contracts are delivered efficiently and consistently, while managing cleaners, supervisors, equipment, supplies and client relationships.
The successful candidate should have strong operational and people-management skills, be able to manage multiple sites and respond effectively to day-to-day operational challenges.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cleaning Operations Management
- Oversee daily cleaning operations across multiple client sites.
- Ensure cleaning services are carried out according to contractual requirements, company SOPs and agreed service standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks.
- Identify service gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure cleaning schedules and assigned duties are properly followed.
- Respond promptly to urgent cleaning requirements and operational issues.
2. Manpower Management
- Plan and coordinate manpower deployment according to site requirements.
- Prepare work schedules, duty rosters and staff deployment plans.
- Supervise cleaners, team leaders and cleaning supervisors.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, performance and productivity.
- Arrange replacement manpower for absenteeism and staff shortages.
- Recruit and train cleaning staff when required.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to staff.
3. Client & Contract Management
- Maintain good working relationships with clients, building management and site representatives.
- Understand client requirements and ensure service standards are consistently met.
- Attend meetings with clients to discuss operational matters and service performance.
- Handle client feedback and complaints professionally.
- Follow up on corrective actions and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
- Monitor contract requirements, manpower allocation and service deliverables.
4. Cleaning Quality & Standards
- Establish and maintain consistent cleaning standards across all sites.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality audits.
- Ensure proper cleaning methods and procedures are followed.
- Monitor the condition and cleanliness of client premises.
- Implement improvements to service quality and productivity.
- Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals, equipment and tools.
5. Equipment & Inventory Management
- Monitor cleaning equipment, machines, chemicals, consumables and supplies.
- Ensure sufficient stock is available at each site.
- Control usage and minimise wastage.
- Arrange maintenance and repair of cleaning equipment.
- Ensure staff are properly trained in the safe operation of equipment.
6. Cost & Operational Control
- Monitor manpower and operational costs.
- Ensure efficient deployment of cleaning staff.
- Minimise unnecessary overtime, wastage and operational expenses.
- Assist management with budgeting and cost-control initiatives.
- Monitor the profitability and operational performance of cleaning contracts.
7. Training & Staff Development
- Conduct or coordinate training for cleaners and supervisors.
- Train staff on cleaning procedures, equipment handling, workplace safety and customer service.
- Ensure new employees understand their duties and site requirements.
- Develop supervisors and team leaders to improve site-level management.
8. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure cleaning operations are conducted safely and responsibly.
- Ensure staff use appropriate personal protective equipment and cleaning equipment.
- Maintain proper records relating to manpower, training, inspections and incidents.
- Ensure operations comply with applicable workplace safety, employment and cleaning industry requirements.
- Investigate operational incidents and implement preventive measures.
9. Reporting & Administration
- Prepare regular operational reports for management.
- Monitor attendance, manpower deployment, site performance and customer feedback.
- Maintain proper records of site inspections and corrective actions.
- Report significant operational issues to senior management promptly.
- Assist management with tender proposals, quotations and manpower planning where required.
Requirements
- Diploma or relevant qualification in Business, Facilities Management, Hospitality, Operations or a related field preferred.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in cleaning services, facilities management or similar operations.
- Experience managing multiple cleaning sites is highly preferred.
- Strong manpower planning and supervisory skills.
- Good knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment and chemicals.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational abilities.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Willing to travel between client sites.
- Able to work outside normal office hours when operational requirements arise.
