SUPPORT ASMI’S SUSTAINABILITY & INNOVATION COMMITTEE (SIC)

a. Promote adoption of innovation, decarbonisation and renewables within the marine sector

b. Facilitate transformation of the marine sector towards a low emissions future economy

c. Manage meetings of the SIC

ADVANCE MARINE DECARBONISATION

a. Administer the Marine Decarbonisation Champions (MDC) Programme

b. Organise MDC collateral activities

c. Engage external stakeholders including government agencies towards programme objectives

3.

ORGANISE THE MARINE AND OFFSHORE (M&O) SYMPOSIUM

a. Coordinate and manage the annual industry thought leadership event

b. Showcase innovative efforts and initiatives in the marine sector

c. Engage ASMI members and other external stakeholders towards symposium objectives

4.

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION

a. Support Grant writing for LEAD Programme for the Association (Primarily for the ITM Phase Two on Innovation and Sustainability)

b. Any other initiatives relating to industry development

c. Provide support to other ASMI events and activities as and when required

d. Undertake special projects and ad-hoc duties as and when assigned
Association of Singapore Marine & Offshore Energy Industries

The Association of Singapore Marine & Offshore Energy Industries (ASMI) has a rich history that began in 1968 as the Singapore Association of Shipbuilding and Repair (SASAR). In 1988, it underwent a pivotal rebranding and was renamed the Association of Singapore Marine Industries. Fast forward to 2023, ASMI has once again evolved to align with the industry's commitment and ambition towards sustainable growth and a net-zero future. The association is now known as the Association of Singapore Marine and Offshore Energy Industries, reflecting its dedication to delivering green product solutions for the global Marine and Offshore Energy sector, encompassing areas such as offshore wind and new energies.

ASMI is a non-profit trade association set up in 1968 to promote the interest and advancement of the marine industry in Singapore. ASMI represents the different sectors of the Singapore marine and offshore industry in the business of ship repair and conversion, shipbuilding, rigbuilding and offshore energy. Its members include big and small shipyards, local and foreign manufacturers and suppliers of marine equipment and components, marine engineering and consultancy companies, and marine contractors whose business activities are related directly to the industry.

Its objectives are to represent and promote the interest of its members and the marine and offshore industry in Singapore and overseas, as well as to foster closer cooperation among member and between affiliated organisations in Singapore and internationally. ASMI also promotes regular programmes to improve productivity, technology, skills upgrading and to raise safety, health and environmental standards in the industry. The Association maintains a close relationship with the government and statutory boards through direct representatives and regular dialogues on matters affecting the industry.

The main role of ASMI are to enhance the knowledge and skills of the marine workforce, to promote the collective interest of the marine and offshore industry as well as to link up and integrate the industry. The Association has a membership strength of more than 250 corporate members.
