Role Description The Purchasing Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Malaysia, supporting procurement activities for MCCS INTERNATIONAL’s projects and operations. This role involves assisting with the preparation, processing, and tracking of purchase orders, as well as coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services. The Purchasing Assistant will maintain purchasing records, update databases, and help verify pricing, quantities, and delivery terms in line with company policies and project requirements. Daily tasks include communicating with internal teams to understand material needs, obtaining quotations, comparing options, and escalating issues such as delays or discrepancies. The role also supports inventory monitoring, basic vendor evaluation, and contributes to continuous improvement of purchasing processes to ensure cost-effectiveness and reliability.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes and general purchasing practices.
- Ability to prepare, review, and manage purchase orders accurately.
- Knowledge of procurement principles, supplier coordination, and basic vendor management.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Basic proficiency with office software (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, email) and purchasing or ERP systems is beneficial.
- Experience in industrial, mechanical, or oil and gas sectors is an advantage.
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ability to work on-site in Malaysia and collaborate within diverse, cross-functional teams.
