Quantity Surveyor – Civil, Utilities & Telecom Projects

Purnama Solution (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a practical and commercially strong Quantity Surveyor to support our civil infrastructure, utilities, telecommunications, fibre and HDD projects.

This is not a desk-ONLY Quantity Surveyor position. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel to project sites to physically verify completed works, measurements, quantities and supporting evidence before claims, payments and commercial submissions are processed.

The position will work closely with Finance, Project Managers, Operations and Procurement, with primary responsibility for project costing, quantity verification, quotations, claims, pricing and commercial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Travel to project sites as required to physically inspect and verify completed works.
• Carry out site measurements and confirm actual quantities against claims, drawings, PO, site records and supporting documents.
• Conduct joint measurements with Project Managers, supervisors and subcontractors where necessary.
• Measure and verify civil/infrastructure works including:
• HDD and underground utility works
• Trenching and ducting
• Manholes, chambers and pits
• Road reinstatement
• Milling and paving
• Excavation and concrete works
• Fibre and telecom-related civil works
• Check that quantities claimed correspond with actual completed work on site.
• Identify incomplete works, unsupported quantities, duplicate claims and over-claims.
• Prepare and review progress claims.
• Review subcontractor claims before certification/payment.
• Prepare, review and evaluate Variation Orders (VO).
• Prepare rate build-ups and commercial evaluations.
• Review supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Carry out quotation comparison and price verification.
• Maintain project pricing, rate cards and costing databases.
• Monitor project budgets, committed costs, actual costs and claims.
• Prepare weekly and monthly project costing and commercial reports.
• Maintain claim registers, VO trackers, cost trackers and commercial records.
• Highlight cost overruns and commercial risks to Finance and Management.
• Support Finance with project costing, accruals, cost verification and commercial analysis.
• Work closely with Operations to ensure claims are supported by actual site progress and proper documentation.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or related construction discipline.
• Approximately 3–7 years of Quantity Surveying / commercial experience.
• Experience in civil construction, infrastructure, utilities, roadworks, underground works or M&E/EPC projects is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of quantity measurement, costing and site verification.
• Experience preparing or reviewing progress claims and Variation Orders.
• Able to prepare rate build-ups and quotation comparisons.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting skills.
• Must be willing and able to travel to project sites for physical verification of works and quantities.
• Comfortable working both in the office and on active project sites.
• Able to independently question and challenge unsupported quantities and claims.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation and follow-up.
• Able to coordinate effectively with Finance, Project Managers, Operations and Procurement.

Added Advantage

Experience involving telecommunications fibre, HDD, utility trenching, TNB works, roadworks, road reinstatement, milling & paving or other infrastructure projects will be an advantage.

Direct fibre/HDD experience is not compulsory. Candidates with a strong civil or infrastructure Quantity Surveying background are encouraged to apply, and project-specific training will be provided.

Work Arrangement

• Full-time, Permanent
• Based in Seksyen 22, Shah Alam
• Site travel required for verification and measurement
• Reporting primarily to Finance / Commercial Management
• Salary: RM4,500 – RM6,500 per month, depending on experience and capability

Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM6,500.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Shah Alam: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
