MASSONE ONG is a boutique interior design practice based in Singapore, with a studio presence in Milano.

Founded by Elisa Massone and Vanessa Ong, our work sits at the intersection of interior architecture, lifestyle and styling. We design highly considered interiors where spatial clarity, materiality, furniture, art and the details of everyday life come together as one complete narrative.

Our portfolio spans high-end private residences, luxury residential developments, show suites and selected commercial and hospitality projects in Singapore and internationally.

As a small, founder-led studio, we work differently from a large corporate practice. Our designers are closely involved in projects and are encouraged to think beyond their individual tasks—to understand the larger design idea, contribute creatively and take responsibility for seeing good ideas through.

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Interior Designer to join our Singapore studio.

This is a hands-on design position for someone with a strong foundation in spatial design and interior architecture, coupled with a genuine interest in furniture, materials, art and styling.

You will work closely with the founders and senior members of the studio across projects at different stages—from early concepts and space planning to design development, presentations, detailing, material selection and site implementation.

We are looking for someone who is not simply proficient in software, but who thinks as a designer: curious about how people live, sensitive to proportion and materiality, and interested in how architecture, interiors, furniture and objects come together to create atmosphere.

Because we are a boutique practice, the role offers significant exposure to the complete design process and an opportunity to develop quickly through real project responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Concept Development

• Support the development of interior concepts for high-end residential, hospitality and commercial projects.
• Develop strong space-planning solutions that respond to architecture, circulation, function and the client's lifestyle.
• Translate creative direction into mood boards, material palettes, sketches, layouts, 3D studies and presentation material.
• Explore architectural details, joinery, furniture, lighting, materials and finishes as part of a cohesive interior language.
• Assist in developing concepts from initial ideas into increasingly resolved design proposals.
• Produce SketchUp models and design studies to test proportion, composition, furniture placement and architectural details.
• Prepare clear and visually compelling client presentations using Adobe Creative Suite.
• Participate actively in internal design reviews and contribute ideas rather than simply executing instructions.

Design Development & Documentation

• Develop design concepts into coordinated drawing packages using AutoCAD.
• Assist with plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, joinery details and other interior documentation.
• Coordinate drawings against architectural, M&E and consultant information.
• Assist senior team members in reviewing shop drawings, samples and material submissions.
• Maintain accuracy and consistency across drawings, schedules, specifications and presentation documents.
• Understand how design decisions translate into construction and progressively develop strong technical and detailing knowledge.

Materials, FF&E & Styling

At MO, furniture and objects are integral to the architecture of an interior rather than an afterthought.

You will:

• Research and source furniture, lighting, materials, finishes, artwork and accessories.
• Assist in developing FF&E palettes appropriate to each project's narrative and client.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain samples, specifications, quotations and technical information.
• Participate in showroom and supplier visits.
• Assist with furniture layouts, FF&E schedules and styling proposals.
• Develop an understanding of international furniture brands, emerging designers, artisans and contemporary design.
• Support installation and final styling when required.

Project & Site Exposure

• Participate in consultant, contractor and supplier coordination as projects develop.
• Attend site visits and meetings with senior team members where appropriate.
• Assist in documenting site observations, outstanding items and design changes.
• Develop an understanding of construction sequencing, materials, fabrication and workmanship.
• Take responsibility for assigned tasks and follow them through accurately and on time.

What We Are Looking For

Essential

• Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Based in Singapore and able to work full time from our Singapore studio.
• Diploma, Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture or a related discipline.
• Approximately 3–5 years of relevant professional experience; candidates with 5+ years of experience are also welcome.
• Experience or a strong portfolio demonstrating high-end residential, hospitality or commercial interior design.
• Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong spatial planning and conceptual design ability.
• A refined eye for proportion, composition, materiality and detail.
• Strong visual and graphic presentation skills.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Ability to manage deadlines and work across several projects simultaneously.

A Plus

• Enscape or other 3D visualisation capability.
• Experience preparing interior architectural drawing packages.
• Knowledge of FF&E, furniture brands and material suppliers.
• Singapore site and construction experience.
• Mandarin proficiency, particularly for coordination on our growing portfolio of projects in China.
