Responsibilities
1. Job Summary
The Contract / On-Call Boiler Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring and ensuring the safe and proper functioning of the steam boiler system whenever required by the Company. This is an On-Call position. The Boiler Operator is not required to report to work on a daily basis. Attendance will only be required when the Company contacts and requests the Boiler Operator to report for duty based on the Company’s boiler operation requirements, production schedule, inspection, maintenance or other related needs.
2. Key Responsibilities
1. Boiler Operation
a) Operate the steam boiler safely and efficiently.
b) Conduct appropriate pre-start checks before operation the boiler.
c) Monitor boiler pressure, temperature, water level, fuel supply and other relevant operating parameters.
d) Carry out proper boiler start-up and shutdown procedures.
e) Monitor the boiler during operation and immediately report any abnormal condition.
f) Ensure the boiler is operated parameters.
g) Maintain proper boiler operating records and logbooks.
h) Immediately stop the boiler where continued operation may create a safety risk.
2. Safety and Compliance
a) Comply with all applicable requirements of DOSH and other relevant authorities.
b) Comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and applicable regulations.
c) Comply with the Company’s occupational safety, health and emergency and environmental procedures.
d) Ensure that no unauthorized person operates or interferes with the steam boiler.
e) Report any defects, leakage, abnormal pressure, malfunction, unsafe conditions or other hazardous condition immediately to the Company.
f) Cooperate with DOSH inspections and authorized inspections when required.
3. Maintenance and Inspection
a) Conduct routine operational checks as required.
b) Report on maintenance requirements for the Company.
c) Assist authorized maintenance personnel, service providers, engineers and inspectors where required.
d) Not carry out repair, alteration or modification of the steam boiler beyond the Contract Operator’s competency and authorization.
e) Ensure that any repair, service, inspection or alteration requiring a competent person/company is referred to the appropriate authorized party.
4. Documentation
The Contract Operator shall ensure that relevant records are properly maintained, including:
Requirements:
· Possess a valid Boilerman Certificate of Competency, Grade1 or Grade 2, as applicable to the boiler installed at the premises.
· Registered or recognized by DOSH / JKKP Malaysia
· Relevant experience in steam boiler operation.
· Experience in manufacturing or food manufacturing industry is an advantage.
· Good knowledge of boiler operation, safety procedures and basic troubleshooting.
· Able to work independently and responsibly.
Must be contactable and reasonably available when the Company requires attendance.
Working Hours & Payment:
Working Hours:
8.00 AM – 5.00 PM
Attendance Rate:
RM150 per attendance
Pay: RM150.00 per day
