Job Description:

NES Fircroft is currently supporting a leading engineering organisation in the search for an experienced Structural Design Engineer based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the structural analysis and design of offshore structures, with particular focus on Living Quarters (LQ), E-House modules, topside modules and associated primary and secondary steel structures.

This is a design-focused engineering position and would suit candidates with strong hands-on experience using SACS and/or STAAD.Pro for offshore structural analysis and detailed engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for offshore topside modules, Living Quarters, E-Houses and modular structures.
• Carry out structural calculations and analysis using SACS and/or STAAD.Pro.
• Design and assess primary and secondary steel structures, including module framing, platforms, equipment supports, pipe supports, access structures and miscellaneous steel.
• Perform structural assessments for applicable in-place, lifting, transportation, loadout and installation conditions.
• Develop structural design calculations, engineering reports, design philosophies and technical documentation.
• Review structural drawings, fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings and engineering deliverables.
• Perform structural checks considering dead loads, live loads, equipment loads, environmental loads, transportation loads and other applicable design conditions.
• Support the structural design and integration of equipment and associated supports within offshore modules and E-Houses.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, HVAC, Architectural and Project Engineering.
• Review client specifications, project requirements and applicable engineering codes and standards.
• Provide technical input and resolve structural design issues during detailed engineering and fabrication.
• Support design reviews and respond to technical comments from clients, consultants and other engineering disciplines.
• Liaise with fabrication and project teams to ensure designs are practical, constructible and aligned with project requirements.
• Support engineering changes and modifications throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure structural engineering deliverables are completed according to project schedules, quality requirements and applicable standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Relevant experience in structural design and analysis within Offshore Oil & Gas, FPSO, topsides, offshore modules or E-House projects.
• Strong hands-on experience with SACS and/or STAAD.Pro is highly preferred.
• Experience designing Living Quarters, E-Houses, topside modules or similar offshore modular structures would be highly advantageous.
• Good understanding of primary and secondary steel design.
• Experience with structural analysis for equipment supports, platforms, module framing, pipe racks/supports and associated steel structures.
• Exposure to in-place, lifting, transportation, loadout and/or installation analysis would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with relevant offshore structural engineering codes, standards and design practices.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and multidisciplinary design information.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Able to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Candidates should be willing to be based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Structural Design Engineer who has worked on offshore modules rather than purely civil/building structures.

Candidates with experience limited primarily to onshore buildings, residential/commercial construction or site supervision may not be suitable for this position.

Experience with offshore topsides, Living Quarters or E-House structural design combined with SACS/STAAD.Pro will be particularly relevant.
