We are seeking a commercially driven Bunker Trader to support marine fuel trading activities across Korea and the wider Asia region. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer accounts, developing new business opportunities, negotiating fuel transactions, monitoring market developments, and coordinating with interna land external stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of trading activities.
This role is suitable for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced commercial environment, possess strong relationship management skills, and are motivated to drive business growth within the marine fuel and commodities sector.
Responsibilities
Manage marine fuel purchase requirements for assigned customers and act as the primary point of contact for commercial transactions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and business partners.
Communicate regularly with Korean-speaking customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to support business activities and relationship management in the Korea market.
Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities through market prospecting and client engagement.
Conduct market research and analyse industry trends, pricing movements, and commercial opportunities to support business growth.
Monitor and communicate market intelligence to customers and internal stakeholders.
Prepare and negotiate quotations, pricing proposals, and commercial terms.
Maintain an active pipeline of prospective customers and business opportunities.
Coordinate end-to-end transaction activities, including pricing confirmation, delivery arrangements, documentation, and post-transaction follow-up.
Work closely with operations, logistics, and credit teams to ensure efficient transaction execution and risk management.
Monitor customer credit exposure and support collection and credit control activities where required.
Assist in resolving operational issues, claims, and customer enquiries in a timely manner.
Deliver a high level of customer service and responsiveness in a competitive trading environment.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in sales, trading, commodities, marine fuel, shipping, energy, or a related commercial environment.
Experience in bunker trading, marine fuels, energy trading, or commodity markets will be an advantage.
Good understanding of commodity market dynamics, pricing mechanisms, and commercial negotiations.
Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.
Self-motivated, proactive, resilient, and results-oriented with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Korean (written and spoken) is required as the role involves regular communication with Korean-speaking customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to support business activities and relationship management in the Korea market.
Ability to work collaboratively with regional and international stakeholders across multiple functions, including operations, logistics, finance, and credit teams.
