About the Role
Design, provision, configure, and maintain infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Responsibilities
- Deploy and manage AWS services such as EC2, VPC, ALB/NLB, S3, RDS, CloudFront, Route 53, IAM, CloudWatch, EBS, Auto Scaling and AWS WAF.
- Configure VPC networking, subnets, route tables, security groups, NAT gateways and related network components.
- Deploy and maintain Linux-based application and infrastructure servers.
- Support containerised application deployments using Docker and Kubernetes environments such as Amazon EKS.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
- Assist with CI/CD pipelines and automated application deployments.
- Configure monitoring, logging, alerting, backup and disaster recovery mechanisms.
- Apply AWS security best practices including IAM policies, least-privilege access, encryption and network security controls.
- Perform infrastructure troubleshooting, performance analysis and incident resolution.
- Support cloud infrastructure sizing and cost optimisation.
- Prepare and maintain infrastructure diagrams, deployment documentation, configuration records and operational procedures.
- Work with application development teams to troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment-related issues.
- Participate in deployment and production support activities when required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on AWS experience in a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, System Engineer or similar technical role.
- Must possess at least one active AWS Associate-level certification, such as:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate
- AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with core AWS services, particularly EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Load Balancing and CloudWatch.
- Good understanding of AWS networking concepts including VPC, public/private subnets, routing, security groups and load balancing.
- Hands-on experience administering Linux servers.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerised application deployment.
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes; hands-on experience with Amazon EKS will be an advantage.
- Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD concepts.
- Good understanding of cloud security, availability, scalability, backup and disaster recovery concepts.
- Able to troubleshoot infrastructure, networking and application deployment issues independently.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work effectively with developers, technical leads and project teams.
Preferred Skills
Candidates with any of the following experience will have an added advantage:
- Amazon EKS / Kubernetes administration
- Terraform / Cloudformation
- AWS WAF and CloudFront
- RDS / database infrastructure
- NGINX and reverse proxy configuration
- CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions or Jenkins
- AWS multi-account environments
- Hybrid cloud or on-premise-to-AWS connectivity
- AWS backup and disaster recovery implementation
- Cloud security hardening
- AWS cost optimisation
- Experience supporting enterprise, financial services or government projects
