Job Title: Procurement Category Manager

Duration: 4 months

Remote for China or Singapore

40 hours per week Fulltime


Introduction: The Procurement Category Manager plays a critical role in driving strategic sourcing and category management initiatives within the organization. This position is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance across assigned categories. By leveraging market insights and collaborating with cross-functional teams, the Procurement Category Manager ensures the organization achieves sustainable value and competitive advantage through effective supplier relationships and category expertise.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category strategies aligned with organizational goals and market trends.
  • Conduct detailed spend analysis and market research to identify opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation.
  • Manage supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including finance, operations, and legal teams to ensure procurement activities support business objectives.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, delivery, and innovation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in category review meetings and procurement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present reports on category performance, savings, and risk management to senior management.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certification such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement or category management, preferably within a similar industry.
  • Proven track record of successful supplier negotiations and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.


Tools and Technologies:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle for procurement and contract management.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and spend management.
  • Experience with e-Sourcing platforms and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) software.
  • Familiarity with Spend Analysis tools and Market Intelligence platforms.
  • Knowledge of contract management software and digital procurement solutions is an advantage.
